Recently, I was commissioned by The Catechetical Children’s Choir to write a few hymns inspired by the teachings of the Early Church. This hymn was inspired by St. Athanasius’ On the Incarnation, a wonderful treatise defending the divinity of Christ. Also, a good text to celebrate 1,700 years of the Council at Nicaea. You can listen here:
Gratitude to Angela Daly for help with the lyrics; Carey Luce for producing and editing the recording; and Greg Scheer for writing the parts for strings.

Prince of Peace (An Athanasian Hymn)
Out of death and into life,
Out of war and into peace;
We’re no longer enemies,
But are friends through Christ our king.
2. Every nation can draw near,
The Word shatters every spear;
And we lift our hands in prayer
For He keeps us in his care.
R. Who has done these wondrous things?
The beloved Son of God.
Who will make all wars to cease?
Our Incarnate Prince of Peace.
3. Fully God and fully Man,
He’s our brother, and our friend;
All was dark in ages past,
Christ has brought us peace at last.
4. Glory to our Father God,
Glory be to Jesus Christ;
And the Spirit, Fire Divine:
One in essence, Three in One.
